Indian Creek is a wealthy neighborhood-slash-village in Miami Beach. It occupies a 300-acre island across from the neighborhood of Surfside, and it is home to 41 incredibly luxurious homes. In early 2019, one Indian Creek home was sold for $50 million making it the most expensive home in Miami Dade County. The residents are a who’s who of the entertainment and business world, which is why the village has a 24/7 police presence on land and water. Amenities include an 18-hole golf course and an ultra-private country club. It is one of South Florida’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

Here are just a few things that make the Indian Creek neighborhood stand out:

Indian Creek Country Club: The club takes up most of the island, and the membership is a tightly held secret. Designed by architect Maurice Fatio, this old world, elegant, Mediterranean-style club house is a beauty. With over 70,000 square feet, it has plenty of beautiful spaces that take full advantage of its private island setting.

Non-Stop Security: Due to the challenges of celebrity and wealth, the island takes security very seriously. There is a State of Florida police force patrolling the island and manning the guardhouse 24/7, as well as an armed marine patrol monitoring the waters.

Privacy: With that, the restrictions of entrance to the island results in unparalleled privacy for the residents. It’s a well designed and maintained buffer from the cameras, curious eyes and people with proximity issues. Indian Creek is the perfect retreat for those who desire completely managed seclusion.

A short history of the Indian Creek neighborhood:

  • The Indian Creek Country Club was built in 1929.
  • Bandleader and broadcast personality Ozzie Nelson (father of singer Ricky Nelson) made his first radio broadcast from “the Creek.”
  • Everyone who lives on Indian Creek is famous. Really, just about everyone. Singers Julio and Enrique Iglesias, ex-Miami Dolphin coach and restaurateur Don Shula, Victoria Secrets model Adriana Lima, billionaires Carl Icahn, Norman Braman, Parvez Ashraf Lahiri, Edward Lampert and more. The list is impressive. Oh! Beyonce and Jay-Z used to live there.

Surf Club Restaurant: We picked this one, because it’s “the” club that started it all – after all, the area would not be what it is today without the founding of this particular private club. Led by Chef Thomas Keller, you can enjoy the classic Continental cuisine that is tailored for a new generation of foodies and food connoisseurs. You can go from one local icon to another, and experience what early Miami elites called elegant and extravagant.

Carpaccio: For over 25 years Carpaccio’s has been one of the anchor restaurants of the fashionable and chic Bal Harbour Shops. Serving classic Italian fare, it is well known for its traditional pasta dishes and fresh seafood. A great place to people watch as you enjoy some bruschetta and a glass of wine. If you feel up to it, you can even get in some high-fashion shopping.

Indian Creek Country Club Snack Bar: Truth be told, we have no idea what it’s like and what they serve. But rumor has it that it’s amazing. At least we know the setting is; Biscayne Bay, the golf course, the people. We can only assume it would be extra special, but someone from the club will have to reach out and invite us so we can tell you about it. Hint. Hint.

Get some activities in: The Indian Creek Country Club has great activities for the residents and their guests. If you’re sporty, you can enjoy tennis with the resident pro, croquet, or take a swim in the pool. Lessons and clinics are scheduled throughout the week, or if you prefer private lessons are available. For those who enjoy “low-impact” adventures, you can join in on bridge competitions or participate in the book club.

Hide in a crowd: Across the bridge is the neighborhood of Surfside and all the great things you can do there. Restaurant and bar hopping, the beach, parks and art are all within reach. Living in Indian Creek lets you taste two worlds – one of quiet seclusion and one of laid back explorations.

Do some shopping: Bal Harbour Shops continues to win awards from their peers about their innovation and profitability. Home to the world’s most iconic fashion brands – from Dior to Prada – you will not leave the open air mall without seeing something exquisitely beautiful. Go ahead and indulge yourself.
